Caroline joined Burness in June 2024 as a communications coordinator. She provides support for a range of clients including the National Academy of Medicine, Stanford Center for Dissemination and Implementation, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Healthy Eating Research.

Prior to Burness, Caroline interned with Capital News Service, a student-powered news organization run by the University of Maryland Philip Merrill College of Journalism. As deputy audience editor, she used social media and other digital platforms to expand the publication’s reach and engagement. She also managed a team of students to update the homepage, create content for different platforms and analyze metrics.

Caroline earned a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with a bachelor’s degree in English. She was a Division 1 student-athlete and captained the women’s soccer team at both schools. 

Outside of work, Caroline loves to read and spend time with her family and friends. She also enjoys exercising, traveling and photography.
