With nearly 25 years of experience, Che has led thought leadership campaigns, media strategy and crisis communications for some of the nation’s leading healthcare systems, academic institutions and foundations.
At Burness, Che has supported the de Beaumont Foundation and Trust for American’s Health to highlight the role of social drivers of health, and worked with Georgetown University’s Center on Poverty and Inequality to shape the conversation about how to improve economic well-being.
Before joining Burness, Che was the Communications Program Manager at Nemours Children’s Health, where he helped share unique patient stories, worked as a producer on the award-winning Nemours podcast, and supported federal policy and advocacy work, specifically on issues such as food insecurity, maternal health and adolescent mental health. He has also worked in public relations and communications for Inova Health System, Geisinger Health System, and Kaiser Permanente.
Che began his career as a crime and politics journalist for the Kansas City Call Newspaper and then as a staff writer covering national healthcare issues and Capitol Hill hearings for the American Hospital Association. Che is the author of four published novels and a collection of short stories.
Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Che earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Che also earned a Master of Arts degree in Writing from Johns Hopkins University. He lives in Alexandria, Virginia, with his family.
