Katie joined Burness in December 2021. She provides communications support through creating media lists, assisting with events, drafting social media content and blogs, and conducting research on a range of health and nonprofit topics. She works with several domestic clients, including CityHealth, the Lieber Institute for Brain Development, the Northern Virginia Health Foundation, and the Heising-Simons Foundation.
Katie graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University in May 2020, with bachelor’s degrees in English and theology. At Georgetown, she captained the equestrian team and volunteered her time to social impact groups. In 2021, she received her master’s degree in Irish literature from Trinity College Dublin. Originally from Woodstock, Vermont, she now lives in Washington, D.C.
Prior to working at Burness, Katie interned with a number of nonprofits, including Pencils of Promise, Save the Children, the International Women’s Forum, and High Horses Therapeutic Riding Program.
In her free time, she enjoys reading, creative writing, and exploring the city’s independent bookshops and cafes.
