For over 15 years, Maya has harnessed her strategic communications expertise to advance major policy initiatives for nonprofits addressing health care, housing, and community development. At Burness, she leads projects in these areas, working closely with reporters, developing campaigns, writing, strategizing, and raising the profiles of experts dedicated to advancing solutions. She advises numerous organizations including the Commonwealth Fund, the Low Income Investment Fund, the Milbank Memorial Fund, and Families USA. 

Before joining Burness in 2012, Maya led communications and online outreach for Young Invincibles, a national nonprofit dedicated to empowering young adults. 

Maya earned her B.A. in political science and communications from Allegheny College. She lives in Washington, DC, with her family.
