Mona brings expertise in media relations, event planning, and storytelling to organizations and academic centers working to advance health and social equity in the U.S. and around the world.

At Burness, she has worked with organizations including Georgetown University’s Center on Poverty and Inequality, the CDC Foundation, and the Aspen Institute. With a passion for making meaning out of data, she has also spearheaded communications for NYU’s City Health Dashboard and Congressional District Health Dashboard, Georgetown University’s Massive Data Institute, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Prior to joining Burness, Mona worked at Washington, D.C.-based public affairs firms, where she advised national and international clients on communications strategies, including for nonprofits, Fortune 500 companies, and high-profile litigation cases. She also previously supported Arab-American outreach and strategy efforts for the Joe Biden presidential campaign in 2020.

Mona has a bachelor’s degree in communications and media from the American University in Cairo, and a master’s degree in international affairs from the George Washington University. In her free time, she enjoys travelling, baking, and volunteering with organizations that assist immigrant and refugee communities.
