Claudia Lievano joined the Burness global practice as a Senior Communications Coordinator in February 2020. She supports a variety of projects for the Ford Foundation and its grantees on Indigenous peoples’ rights, forestry and environmental issues. In her role, she helps the team with writing press materials, pitching research-driven stories to media outlets, and managing the organizational components of the projects.
Prior to joining Burness, Claudia worked as a Senior Marketing Fellow at The Nature Conservancy (TNC), where she wrote and managed bilingual web content for the Latin America team. As a TNC fellow through the Princeton in Latin America program, she provided communications support to the Mexico City office.
Claudia graduated from the University of Florida, with a B.S. in Telecommunications, and minors in International Sustainable Development and Latin American studies. She moved to DC in 2016 to become a bilingual middle school teacher. In her spare time, Claudia loves working with immigrant populations in the DMV area, supporting environmental and social causes, and dancing to Latin music with friends.
