Jessica joined Burness in July 2023 as a communications coordinator, where she supports work on science and global health activities.
Prior to joining Burness, Jessica was a newsroom intern with WESH in Orlando, Florida, a broadcast intern with NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and a communications coordinator at the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. She has coordinated satellite media tours for science-driven stories both domestically and internationally. She is passionate about science communication and hopes to bring new information to underserved communities across the world.
Jessica is an Orlando native and earned her B.S. in media production, technology, and management from the University of Florida. While in college, she gained a strong interest in medicine and worked in a level I trauma center in their guest relations department and shadowed ER doctors. From this experience, she decided to focus on becoming a science communicator through her studies.
She is currently living in Silver Spring and loves to explore the D.C. area. In her free time, you can find her hiking the great outdoors with her dog, Apollo, flying in a little Cessna with friends and participating in trivia nights in the DMV, Florida or anywhere she is traveling! She is a self-proclaimed space nerd who grew up watching launches from her backyard.
