Max Bernstein joined Burness in July 2021 as an associate with the domestic practice. Max supports the firm’s work on health equity and healthy community initiatives primarily through supporting projects from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the de Beaumont Foundation. 

Prior to joining Burness, Max spent three and a half years at Finsbury Glover Hering, an international corporate communications firm. During his tenure there, Max supported clients in the non-profit, financial services, healthcare and automotive sectors, providing strategic counsel on a plethora of topics and issues. Max also served on the firm’s crisis and leadership positioning practice groups. Max began his career as a community liaison in the office of New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins. He also spent a stint as a Researcher the Scottish Parliament while studying abroad in Edinburgh, Scotland. 

Max attended the University of Richmond where he received an undergraduate degree in Politics, Philosophy, Economics & Law.

A New York native, Max is a lifetime Knicks fan, as well as a self-proclaimed Nebraska Cornhusker superfan.
